Wood Burned Mushroom

This live edge wood slice was burned by hand and features a mushroom with mycorrhiza (roots). The grain on the wood mimics a sunset behind the mushroom. We don't often think about what's going on underground. Sure mushrooms are beautiful, but so are its roots! They are vital to the survival of the species, much like our roots are. I'm not just talking about where you're from, but also who you are connected to. This is the perfect gift for any occasion especially for the eco conscious since it is made from natural material!

~4.75 in wide and 5 in tall basswood slice; 0.5 in thick

How it’s made

I use a hot wire pen to burn this image onto the wood slice. No laser printers here! Rest assured that hard work and love was put into your piece. I use a high gloss polyacrylic finish to seal the wood. This will protect the piece from general wear and tear, but it will not protect it from water, sun exposure, or dropping. My favorite part to burn on this piece is the roots. It is tedious and you have to be precise. I find beauty in the fine details and I believe that is what makes this piece so unique.
